Soling Worlds: Germany is far way ahead

On the second day of Soling Worlds the German crew of Roman Koch, Maxl Koch and Gregor Bornemann won the two races of the day and is leading the championship at Veleiros do Sul in Porto Alegre . They won 3 out of 4 races up to now. The advantage built in this competition should not be attributed only to technical skills, says the German skipper.

“The conditions for sailing do not seem easy at all. The wind switches direction and intensity a lot, making the race area more challenging. Another difficulty is the great opponents I am facing here. They really know what they are doing. Theres no doubt. And for their knowledge on the race area they already have some advantage on us. I can tell you we are counting with our lucky for while.”

Daniel Glomb, André Gick and Geison Mendes are in the second place and in third comes George Nehm, Marcos P. Ribeiro and Lucio P. Ribeiro. All from Brazil . Glomb also agrees with the other sailors on the races difficulties. “The wind switches from 30 to 40 degrees direction, sometimes you hit sometimes you miss it. The German is sailing well, but indeed today he has received the wind some help. To lessen the gap of 11 points will not be easy, however the championship is still open.”

The Scottish Hamish Loudon did not run the second race because of his broken boat and fell to 19^th position. On Tuesday the wind was in south direction on the intensity average of 15km/h. The championship counts with participation of 20 crews from five countries and continues on Wednesday with two races at 2pm.

Awards of the day and Feijoada

Eearly evening on Tuesday, the first tree crews of the races received their small awards at the social hall. After, they enjoyed a tasty Feijoada (a traditional black beans dish), a success among the foreigners.
